This year, 400 business representatives, both Moray Chamber of Commerce members and guests, gathered to celebrate success at the 18th Annual Business Awards Dinner - the biggest black-tie

event in Moray.

The Moray Business Award, the evening's most prestigious award, was presented to Gleaner at the event, held at Gordon Castle in Fochabers, to recognise the business' contribution to the local economy.

This year’s award was sponsored by last year’s winners Associated Seafoods Ltd.

Jane Scott, owner of Gleaner Limited, said: “We are honoured to receive this prestigious award which has been made possible by the hard work of all at Gleaner, including 4 generations of my own family.

"Gleaner is extremely proud to be part of the vibrant Moray economy and giving back to Moray has been central to the ethos of the company since it was founded by my grandfather almost 70 years ago.

"This award demonstrates that businesses such as our own who value their employees and give back to the community earn the respect of those around us.

"Gleaner is extremely proud of its Moray roots and will always look to ensure that the success which the company enjoys is enjoyed by the wider community through the support we provide to local projects.

"To receive this award as the company approaches its 70th anniversary is particularly special and we look forward to contributing to the Moray economy and the community for the next 70 years and beyond.”

Gleaner Limited is a family-owned company which has powered homes and businesses across the UK since 1954.

It has grown to be one of the UK’s largest independent energy distributors but is still based in Moray with its headquarters in Elgin and the focus of its charitable support centred firmly in the region.

Gleaner has sponsored many local organisations including The Gleaner Arena, Moray RFC, Fochabers Cricket Club, Elgin Golf Club and a number of other grassroots projects throughout Scotland.

Sarah Medcraf, Chief Executive of Moray Chamber, added: “Everyone knows the Gleaner brand and we recognise its huge contribution to Moray both economically and in its support of local projects.

"We are operating in one of the toughest business climates and yet through great leadership and community engagement, businesses here in Moray continue to thrive.

"Gleaner is a deserving winner of this year’s award and are true example of one of Moray’s stars."
