Dobie was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Ian Dobie, of Gisborne Court, Elgin (43) abused two young girls in Inverurie and Elgin properties between 2018 and 2022.

He was found guilty of two charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting the youngsters by digital penetration, by a jury's majority at Inverness Sheriff Court in March.

His defence counsel, James Robertson, told Sheriff Gary Aitken that a social background report had "deemed my client at low risk of re-offending as far as offences of this nature are concerned.

"He still maintains his innocence."

Sheriff Aitken told Dobie: "This is conduct that society will not accept. Both charges involved sexual conduct towards children over a period of time and involved digital penetration."

He also placed Dobie on the Sex Offender's Register for an indefinite period.
