ELGIN'S Christmas lights are set to be switched on during an all-day town centre event tomorrow (Saturday, November 26).

The lights will be switched on at 4.30pm by local school pupil Faith, but there will be plenty of entertainment for the whole family in the build-up and aftermath.

The event will last from 10am until 5.30pm, with entertainment to be provided by singers, fiddlers, choirs, dancers and more.

There will be activities and a variety of stalls on the Plainstones throughout the day, with Santa and his reindeer providing a highlight when they come to town at 2pm.

Santa will set off from the North College Street Car Park, beside Elgin Museum, and head up towards the Plainstones.

Santa’s Post Office will be back in Elgin for the day, running from 10am until 5.30pm, and will be located at the back of St Giles’ Church.

This will give youngsters the chance to write a letter to Santa, and post it in the magic post box, before it gets flown up to the North Pole.

After reading the letter, Santa will send his reply to his Elgin elves.
