FESTIVE cheer was spread by Elgin City on Tuesday as they delivered Christmas hampers to local care homes.

A total of 150 hampers were delivered to nine care homes, as well as primary schools and the children's and stroke wards at Dr Gray's Hospital, four days before Christmas Day.

Hampers were put together in the Elgin City boardroom by club staff members Bonnie, Craigh and Alison, with help from Nick Hanover and David Lynch from the Salvation Army.

The same group – plus Lisa Hanover – delivered the goodies to homes, especially targetting residents who missed out on City's recent Christmas day out at Borough Briggs.

"We delivered to local care homes to spread festive cheer to residents who were unable to attend out Christmas Meal," general manager Keiran Carty said.

"Additionally, we delivered to primary schools to help children with challenging family circumstances and to the children's and stroke wards at Dr Gray's.

"I can't thank everyone enough for all of their help over the festive period for assisting the club in delivering two fantastic projects to benefit the local community.

"We hope we can continue to grow our initiatives again next year and continue to support those who need it most."

Elgin City delivered the hampers as part of an annual project, run in partnership with the SPFL Trust, to support the most vulnerable at Christmas.

Keiran added: "We couldn’t have done this without the help of Mark Angus and Sarah Bremner from our sponsor Gordon and MacPhail, who assisted us by organising all the stock for the hampers as well as providing hamper boxes.

"Additionally, we were supported with additional funds by local businesses Polypus and Hamish Property Professionals which allowed us to purchase more hampers to spread throughout the community."
