Diamond Skies won Best Wedding Band of the Year at an award ceremony last month after beating tough competition from across Scotland.

It was the band's third time being nominated in the category but their first win.

More than 500 wedding professionals from across Scotland gathered for the event on Wednesday February 23, at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.

Drummer Craig Sim, who attended the ceremony on behalf of the band alongside Jessie Ann Flett, said: "We're absolutely over the moon.

"It was great to go in person after so long so to win as well was just fantastic.

"We're incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported us over the years.

"We were up against some great bands in our category but winning shows that a wee band from Elgin, with a massive support network, can achieve anything."

Craig, Jessie, Callum Ord, Scott Ramsay and Daniel Pearson formed the band in 2015.

Before long they had become a staple of the north east wedding scene with their range of "floor fillers" proving particularly popular.

Craig added: "We go above and beyond for couples which I think has helped us get so far.

"For instance, during Covid where we couldn't play at weddings due to restrictions we would record the first dance song for couples so they could still get a first dance together.

"Couples over the years have said that we are super easy to work with and that we are great musicians with a wide range of familiar favourites to keep guests dancing all night long."

The ceremony was the first to be held in person since the start of the pandemic.

A spokesperson for The Scottish Wedding Awards 2022, said: "The wedding sector plays a vital role in the country's economy and enhances the local community by employing hundreds of staff.

"The wedding industry has faced a tough few years but these finalists have made it through thanks to their hard work and dedication. The awards are proud to showcase those who promote

excellence and turn any bride or groom’s dream into a reality.

"We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their achievements and we hope that they will keep up their amazing work."
