ELGIN Library is lined up to host an exhibition of "iconic" BBC Scotland news programme images.

BBC Scotland has teamed up with libraries to launch the touring exhibition featuring images of 20 people who were captured for the opening titles of the channel’s flagship news programme, The Nine.

For the creation of The Nine’s title sequence when the new channel launched in February 2018, BBC Scotland commissioned 15 photographers across Scotland to capture the diverse range of people who make up the country’s population.

More than 200 photos were taken of 70 different subjects at home, at work and out and about on the streets over six months.

Twenty of the photographs will appear in eight libraries from this month to January 2020 as part of a travelling exhibition that will end its run in Elgin between January 16-23.

The exhibition will also offer an opportunity for nominations of people with an interesting story to appear in The Nine’s next title sequence.

The editor of The Nine, Hayley Valentine, said: "Many people have told us how striking they have found these fantastic photographs, which come from right across Scotland, so it’s great that the work of these photographers will now be taken to libraries across the country."
