Elgin Museum has just opened an exhibition online and is also staging a series of video lectures from this Friday onwards

The venue, which has sadly had to close its doors for the past eight months, is hoping to bring in vital revenue until the public are allowed back inside once more.

The Friends of Elgin Museum's Virtual Art Exhibition features arts and crafts created by both the attraction's team of volunteers as well as by members of The Moray Society.

It follows on from last year's highly successful event.

Claire Herbert, from the museum, said: "As we remain closed to the public, we've had to switch the exhibition online, but we hope that people will still be able to enjoy it.

"They'll also be able to help us by purchasing items from the exhibition.

"All of the artworks are available for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Elgin Museum.

"This year a percentage of sales will also go to NHS Grampian."

In addition, the first of the Moray Society Winter Lecture Series is going out on Friday at 7pm.

Claire said: "Again, as we can't hold our lectures in person, we've gone online.

"We're also trying a new 'In Conversation' style of lecture."

The first episode of 'Elgin Museum: In Conservation' will feature Neil Curtis, who's the head of museums and special collections at University of Aberdeen.

The pre-recorded interview will be broadcast the museum's YouTube channel at 7pm.

It will be free to watch, but the venue is encouraging people to make a donation through its PayPal Donate page.

Normally, its lectures are £3 for members and £4 for non-members.

People were encouraged to submit questions for Neil in advance by email and through social media.

These were put to Neil during the conversation.

People are encouraged to subscribe to the channel in order to receive alerts for when the next episode goes out.
