After the success of Wizard of Oz last year, Sunshine on Leith, a Proclaimers tribute, is set to visit Elgin Town Hall in March.

The sing-a-long musical – which is a funny and moving story about Davy and Ally, two soldiers from Leith – has a soundtrack from the Edinburgh-based band.

Davy and Ally, returning to their hometown after serving in war-torn countries, are questioning what ‘home’ really means.

Both struggle to adapt to life outside of the Army and to deal with the everyday trials of family, jobs and relationships.

Janice Anderson, Elgin Musical Theatre's secretary, said: "We can’t wait to bring this jubilant, heartfelt, foot-stomping, feel-good musical about the power of home, hearth, family and love to our audience in Elgin.

"The group began rehearsals for this production back in September, and are now in the final stages of perfecting their singing and dancing for opening night."

Aidan Henderson, a committee member who is playing a ned in the show, added: "It's good to get folk back out to see amateur theatre.

"Last year's show was after a small lockdown so people were still worried so we are looking forward to getting them back with a real Scottish touch in March."

A series of five performances at Elgin Town Hall will run from Wednesday, March 1, to Saturday, March 4. Four of the shows start at 7.30pm, with a 2pm matinee on the Saturday.

Bucket collections will be made for CLAN Cancer. Tickets, which are £15 for adults and £12 for under 16s, are available online via Ticketmaster or at www.elginmusicaltheatre.com
