Seafield Nursery in Elgin praised for "nurturing ethos and positive relationships" by inspectors

SEAFIELD Nursery in Elgin has been praised by inspectors for its "nurturing ethos and positive relationships".

In an inspection report published today (February 6), the nursery's management and staff were commended for their ability to work together to improve outcomes for children.

The report also highlights the effective support children and families receive from the nursery and that relationships formed there ensure children and their families feel welcome.

While the two quality indicators focused on were graded as 'good', inspectors also outlined some improvements that could be made.

The nursery has been encouraged to provide increased "planned experiences" to enhance children's learning.

Inspectors added: “We are confident that the setting has the capacity to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.”

Rachel Main, Seafield Nursery manager, said: “As a team we’re delighted that the nurturing, supportive and positive experiences we offer has been highlighted within the inspection report.

"I’m incredibly proud of the entire team at Seafield Nursery and together we will continue to develop our approaches and support all our children and their families."

Seafield Primary School was also inspected.

The two areas covered were graded as 'satisfactory' by inspectors.

The school was praised for supporting children though "trusting relationships" while staff understood the needs of children.

The variety of ways in which children's achievements were celebrated was also praised but several areas for improvement were also noted.

That included improving the consistency of learning, teaching and assessment across the school.

Inspectors also said that children's attainment across all areas of the curriculum could be improved.

Inspectors added: "Moray Council will inform parents/carers about the school’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of its schools."
