The Qismat restaurant in Elgin says it will continue to remain closed for "the time being" due to Covid.

The restaurant originally announced on Monday that it would temporarily shut after a family member of one of the staff began showing symptoms.

However it had hoped to open again this week.

A spokesperson for the Qismat said: "We would like to thank everyone who has messaged us in regards to our recent closure.

"Unfortunately family members of staff have tested positive with Covid-19, and with the advice of both local authorities and track and trace, we have decided to remain closed for the time being to isolate.

"A full risk assessment was carried out by the Public Health Board and Track and Trace.

"They were satisfied everything was carried out correctly and all procedures and protocols were adhered to.

"Due to the rise of cases in Moray, we believe it's vital that everyone continues to play their part in protecting each other, protecting our local businesses and ultimately, protecting Moray as a whole.

"We thank you for your patience and continued support, and wish all those affected a speedy recovery.

"Stay safe."
