A 21-year-old has appeared in court after he struck a nightclub doorman in the face.

Elgin Sheriff Court heard that Cameron Morris had been banned from Joanna's prior to the incident on July 27 last year.

The doorman was left with a cut lip and also required dental work which cost £130.

Morris, of Clarendon Court, Elgin, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault.

Talking about his client, defence solicitor Iain Maltman said: "He felt he had been treated fairly roughly, but he realises his actions were foolish.

"He has made some changes to his lifestyle since."

Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov ordered Morris to pay the doorman £250 in compensation and imposed 100 hours of unpaid work for the community.
