Since 2004, the organisation has helped to transform the lives of people living in poverty in seven communities in Nepal, by proving them with access to clean water, healthcare and sanitation.

The organisation's latest project began last year and despite significant restrictions, due to Coronavirus restrictions in Nepal, the project is now well underway with the local community fully involved in the process.

The Rotary clubs in District1010, led by Rotary Elgin have fund raised for all of the life changing developments, which have helped 1337 villagers in 233 households in the Bethanchowk area southeast of Kathmandu.

At the meeting, Past Presidents Alistair Campbell and George Duthie gave a fascinating insight into the achievements of Rotary in delivering water, health, and sanitation projects to Nepal. They also outlined an opportunity for Rotarians to visit Nepal for 17 days in early 2023, the first trip to visit a project since February 2018.

The talk emphasised the importance and personal impact of visiting these projects to see what has been achieved by the fundraisers and villagers. Alongside visiting the Bethanchowk project site and celebrating the Rotarians and villagers' achievements, the trip also provides the opportunity to enjoy the scenery, culture, wildlife, and the heritage of Nepal.
