PERMISSION has been granted to turn a former beauty salon in Elgin into a bar.

A building formerly used by Beautique Nails and Beauty, on Fife Arms Close, behind Specsavers, will be turned into a bar after Moray Council approved a planning application.

The building has three floors, including a basement which will be used for storage.

It has been out of use since December 2021, when Beautique Nails and Beauty relocated to 218 High Street.

There were six representations – with people complaining of a lack of parking, excess noise and the lack of need for another pub in Elgin.

However, Moray Council accepted the planning permission bid saying the proposal "complies with the development plan and there are no material considerations that indicate otherwise".

However, planning permission does state that – unless otherwise agreed by the planning authority – the pub will close between 10pm and 10am to protect those in nearby flats from noise out of hours.
