A convicted sex offender was caught with another haul of indecent images of children following a police tip-off.

Cameron Fordyce (27), a prisoner at HMP Inverness but formerly of Rose Avenue, Elgin, was found with hundreds of images on November 10 last year.

He admitted three charges relating to the possession and distribution of the indecent images when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court via video-link.

Fiscal depute Susan Love said Fordyce was found in bed with a smartphone on him.

Various other computers were found within his property with a large amount of images of different severity as well as more than three hours of video footage.

One device had more than 800 images on it alone.

Email trails showed that he had sent several of the images to others.

Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald deferred sentence for the preparation of background reports and an assessment to see if he is suitable for a sex offenders rehabilitation programme.

He was remanded in custody and will return to court on May 15 to find out his fate.

He was placed on the sex offenders register in the interim.

Fordyce was jailed back in 2016 for similar offences.
