A WOMAN who tackled the snowy conditions last week by skiing through Elgin says she did so for a "laugh and a challenge".

Following an appeal to trace the mystery woman seen skiing through the town centre, Rachel Crichton told The Northern Scot that she had arranged to meet a friend for coffee on Friday.

But with snow causing chaos in Elgin, she knew travelling by car wouldn't be easy.

Rachel said: "I had a day off and had arranged to visit a friend for coffee and my parents for lunch.

"But my daughter and husband advised against the car as they reported Elgin was backing up and there was a forecast for more snow.

"I got ski equipment for Christmas and I've been keen to use it and we don't often get the chance with weather these days so you have to take the opportunity when you can.

"So I just thought it would be a laugh and a challenge."

Would you ditch the car for the skis the next time we experience a cold snap?
