ELGIN'S St Giles' Theatre Group has been forced to cancel its production of Shrek, The Musical, which was to take to the stage in April.

The group has been busy making alternative arrangements and now has plans in place to take to the stage from August 12-15 in the expectation that restrictions on social contact will have been lifted by then.

The stage production of the popular film had been planned for Elgin Town Hall between April 1-4.

A spokesperson said last night: "We made this announcement to our members earlier tonight as they have worked so hard during rehearsals we didn't want to completely disappoint them."

Plans are now in place to run Shrek, The Musical at Elgin Town Hall from August 12-15.

People who purchased tickets directly through Ticketsource have now received emails detailing how their refund will be processed.

For people who bought their tickets at its coffee morning on March 1 or from St Giles' Church, the group is offering to transfer bookings to the new dates or refund payment.

Details of how refunds can be arranged are on the group's Facebook page here.
