THE team of volunteers behind Elgin Town Hall have thanked the general public for their ongoing support.

Since taking over control from Moray Council last summer. the volunteers have succeeded in attracting a series of popular acts to the North-East.

Donnie Squair from the hall's steering committee said: "We are very happy with the support of the community thus far and look forward to putting on more great events such as Jack Dee and the Cream Club night and Girls Night Out!

"It's also been great working alongside our local theatre and dance groups.

"We are very happy with the level of bookings we have for 2019 with 2020 going the same way.

"Looking to 2021 we are planning to open our bookings calendar at the end of June so we plan to have a bright future for Elgin Town Hall and a venue that caters for everyone. "

On Wednesday, June 26, the town hall will welcome the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Strings.

It is rare for a bassist to shine as a concert soloist, but orchestra's principal double bass Nikita Naumov is capable of doing just that.

Nikita will play pieces by the composer Giovanni Bottesini, who was known as “Paganini of the Double Bass”.

The SCO Strings will also play bohemian rhapsodies of the folk-inspired Hungarian and Czech musical tradition.

Tickets are available at www.elgintownhall.co.uk

Under 18s free.
