Elgin woman openly admitted selling drugs after police searched property

A WOMAN from Elgin who was "candid" with police about selling drugs to her friends has been given a community payback order.

Elgin Sheriff Court heard that on December 27, 2022 police executed a search warrant at a property in the Kingsmills area of Elgin.

Ashleigh Simpson (31) was at the property and the warrant was explained to her.

A number of items relating to the supply of drugs were found inside including digital scales as well as a minimal (8.75 grams) amount of drugs.

Simpson was open with police about the operation describing it as a "social supply" which she sold to her friends

Simpson plead guilty to a single charge of supplying a controlled drug namely cannabis.

She was ordered to carry out a community payback order by Sheriff David Sutherland with an 18 month supervision requirement.
