The group has been running since 1988 and meets every other Wednesday, with meetings taking place in Elgin or over Zoom. The group offers writers the opportunity to take part in workshops aimed at improving writing skills, or just to meet and give each other positive feedback and encouragement. The club also has competitions for poetry and fiction across the year to get writers writing.

In 2023, Lorna Fraser scooped the top prizes in the group's competitions, winning one first place, two second places and one third place award. Founder member, Les Gladman won the Cathy Ashenden salver for his short story on the theme of crime and romance and Susan Fleming was awarded the Endeavour Trophy for having shown the greatest improvement in writing and to mark the contribution she made to the club over 2023.

The group's next meeting will take place Wednesday March 6, which is manuscript night for writers to come along and discuss story ideas with fellow members in an open forum.

New members are always welcome and the group welcomes writers of all abilities and genre – poets, prose, fiction and non-fiction writers from those who have barely written a word to published authors.
