Thorfinn (8) and Lachlan Wade (5), who are both at Linkwood Primary School in Elgin, raised funds for Action for Children's Secret Santa appeal by running more than a mile a night from November 13 until December 11.

They ran 50 miles in total, battling all sorts of weather conditions – including three days of ice-related chaos at the start of December.

The aim was to raise £250, but that target was smashed almost instantly en route to the boys raising nearly £1000.

Father Paul Wade said: "It was really good. The weather was terrible. We ran in ice, rain, snow and wind – they loved it.

"It was the kids that asked to do it. We did it last year before Christmas and they wanted to do it again. They were made aware of the impact that the money had last year and were keen to help again.

"They have been asking if we can run further so we can raise £1000!

"I'm incredibly proud of the fact they wanted to do this, and proud of the resilience to carry on when most people wouldn't have gone out the door. It's nice to be able to give back to charity."

This isn't Thorfinn Wade's first fundraising effort. Earlier this year, the youngster raised who is P3 at Linkwood Primary School, raised £820 by climbing Ben Rinnes, Ben Aigan and Bin of Cullen across five days.
