Elgin Youth Cafe to host event with chef Tim Maddams

A YOUTH takeover being held in collaboration with a well-known chef is set to raise funds for The Warehouse @ Elgin Youth Cafe.

The event - to be held on Wednesday, May 29 - will see Tim Maddams, formerly head chef at River Cottage, work with youngsters at the youth cafe to deliver a two-course meal to the public.

The menu is gives visitors a choice of either vension of vegetable chilli, and either tres leches cake or churros. The event begins at 6pm.

There will be an alternative main course option for children and young people.

While the fundraiser focuses on raising money for Elgin Youth Development Group (EYDG), at its heart is the goal of offering high-quality food for which you can ‘pay what you can’.

Tim said: “In partnership with Elgin Youth Cafe, we have a shared belief that we can play a small role in supporting the community in a myriad of ways by putting on these takeover supper events.

“By using a pay-what-you-want basis for ticketing we make it friendly, accessible and totally relaxed as well as tasty, healthy and nourishing.

“I’m looking forward immensely to this first partnership with EYC, and I very much hope it is the beginning of a more regular event.

“Thanks must go to Scottish Venison and all the other supporting contributors for the positivity and generosity they have already shown.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to support the free services that Elgin Youth Cafe charity offers young people.

Notable activities include our Eat, Chat, Chill sessions where a free meal is provided to those attending, cooking classes which teach valuable life skills in a safe environment and jam-packed holiday programmes.
