Elgin Youth Development and Youth Café appeals for volunteers to help support young people

THE Warehouse @ EYC, known locally as the Elgin Youth Café, is appealing for volunteers.

The service, which has been running since 2001 as part of the Elgin Youth Development Group, supports young people in the area by providing them with classes, clubs and development opportunities.

Peter Mutch, Youth Worker and Youth Team Manager for Elgin Youth Development Group said: "Our project offers young people of secondary school age a safe place to socialise along with access to a range of personal development opportunities including after-school clubs, outdoor activities, and issue-based sessions.

"Now more than ever young people need a place to go as well as having access to additional support. With your help we can increase our services and opening times for young people. You do not need to be experienced in working with young people, just the passion to see young people reach their potential in life.

"Our volunteers play a really important role in helping us keep our project to open to young people, and we are so grateful to those that give up their time. We are looking at expanding our activities and are seeking new, enthusiastic volunteers to join our friendly team. Whether you can give a couple of hours a week or a couple of hours a month, we would love to hear from you."

Although many of Elgin Youth Development group's sessions run after school and during school holidays, there are flexible volunteering opportunities with the group and full training will be provided.
