Resourceful Elgin Academy pupils have been managing to continue with their Duke of Edinburgh awards despite the lockdown.

The awards were designed to make young people more adaptable, resilient and able to help others – all qualities which have seldom been more important than now.

In normal times the youngsters would be finalising maps and checking equipment in preparation for the expedition season.

Due to the pandemic that's had to be curtailed

However DofE Scotland has introduced some flexibility to the programme to allow participants to continue with their Award at home.

Embracing these changes and shown true determination, Elgin Academy pupils have been keeping online diaries to record their progress.

Here are some of their pictures:

Head teacher Kyle Scott “We are all in crazy and unprecedented times.

"There has been a need for us all to adapt in so many ways.

"I am so proud of our pupils, staff and parents for all they have done.

"A shining light of this adaptability is our Duke of Edinburgh involvement.

"Even in time of lockdown, I am so proud that our pupils are still engaging with the DofE Award and developing so many skills, in line with the Award.

"A huge well done to all involved."
