Entertainment for travellers at Inverness Airport this Christmas

A "pop-up piano" has been installed by a local charity to raise funds and provide seasonal entertainment to visitors at Inverness Airport.
The initiative is organised the Liam Colgan Music Fund, which was set up in memory of the Inverness-based musician and songwriter who tragically died in Hamburg in 2018.
The fund is dedicated to helping aspiring musicians and others keen on pursuing ambitions in the creative industries.
Sean Fleming, one of the fund's trustees, said: "We trialled this project last year and it was such a success that both the Inverness Airport management and Loch Ness Pianos, who provided and installed the piano for us, want to repeat it and help raise money for the fund."
Since its official launch in October 2020, the fund has helped establish a variety of projects including two awards for music graduates at the University of the Highlands and Islands.
It has also organised work experience placements for students and song-writing workshops.
In addition, it has sponsored a stage at the local Woodzstock Festival to showcase the finalists of the fund’s Young Songwriter of the Year Award.
Airport general manager Graeme Bell said: “Live music during the festive period is a real treat for our passengers and staff.
"We are so happy to welcome the piano once more and from such a good cause too.
"Visitors to the terminal are welcome to play and donate to the Liam Colgan Music Fund.
"It’s an opportunity to help support aspiring musicians and get that warm festive feeling.
"I’m sure the rota of local pianists organised by the charity will be such a treat for everyone, and will encourage folk to donate."
