THE chance to turn the spotlight on Moray's young shining stars is being offered up.

There are four categories: primary school award, global citizenship award, secondary school award and community award.

Entries are now being taken for the Moray Young Citizen Awards 2020.

Awards will be made to the groups across Moray which have made the most outstanding contributions to their local environment, or to the lives of people in their community.

This could include tackling anti-social behaviour or vandalism or using a creative idea to improve the area in which they live. It could also include support for children and young people in a partner school overseas.

Head of education Vivienne Cross said: "The Moray Young Citizen Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the citizenship activities of our children and young people.

The awards have gone from strength to strength and really showcase a strong partnership between Police Scotland, Diageo and Moray Council. Over the years we have been joined by Elgin Rotary Club, adding strength to a sustainable partnership and annual awards ceremony."

Nominations close on January 31 and an awards ceremony follows in March.
