Farming: Champion cattle head to the Thainstone Spectacular

With the summer show season having come to an end many of the show Champions and prize winners are headed to Inverurie this week for the Thainstone Spectacular.

The event will see 40 show cattle being judged by Julie Sedgewick, with leading consignments once again from last year’s winner Balfour Baillie, Seabay View, Tankerness with his team of 10 including, the Orkney County Show Champion as well as the East Mainland Champion.

Last year the well-known commercial cattleman dominated the show and sale of calves when his champion a home-bred, March-born Limousin cross heifer scaling 246kg sold for the top price of £5000.

Entries from other noted breeders include a consignment from J Robertson & Son, Newton of Logierait, Pitlochry and a consignment from Michael Robertson, Fodderletter, Tomintoul.

It is set to be a great show and saleof good quality show which is sponsored by Blackadders will begin at 9.30am on Friday, August 18 in the Exchange followed by the sale in Ring 2.
