Festive Moray: what's closing and when
Moray Council has published its arrangements for the forthcoming festive period.
All council offices are going to be closed from 3pm on the Friday before Christmas until 8.45am on Wednesday January 3.
However emergency out-of-hours service will operate as normal on 03457 565656 for matters such as child protection and vital house repairs.
Residents can still make payments and report non-emergency faults at www.moray.gov.uk
Anyone experiencing homelessness can also contact the housing team via the 03457 565656 number.
All schools and council nurseries will close on Friday, December 22, and reopen on Monday, January 8.
Any queries can be sent to education@moray.gov.uk but may not be responded to immediately.
Sports and leisure facilities run by the council will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day as well as New Year's Eve, New Year's Day and January 2.
A reduced holiday timetable will be in operation at most of them from Saturday, December 23, until things go back to normal on Wednesday, January 3.
The exceptions are Forres House Community Centre, Milne’s Fitness Suite and Elgin High Sports Centre which will be close throughout.
Swimming lessons will begin again on Monday, January 8.
Moray's football pitches and pavilions will be closed from Saturday, December 23, until re-opening again on Monday, January 8.
Moray Leisure Centre in Elgin, which is not run by the council, will close at 1pm on Christmas Eve and open again on Wednesday, December 27.
It will then close again at 1pm on New Year's Eve before reopening on Tuesday, December 2.
All Moray's libraries will be shut on Christmas Eve.
They will be re-open again on the following Wednesday and Thursday, although Lossiemouth will close at 4pm on the first day and Milne's will do likewise on the second.
They will then shut again until returning to normal opening times on Wednesday, January 3.
The mobile library will be on the road up to and including Friday, December 22, before resuming again on Monday, January 8.
St Giles and Batchen Lane car parks will close from 6pm on Christmas Eve until 9am on Boxing Day.
They will also be shut from 6pm on New Year's Eve until 9am on Tuesday, January 2.
The Elgin registrars office will close at 3pm on Friday, December 22 until 8.45am on Wednesday, January 3.
It will be open by appointment only on Wednesday and Thursday, December 27 and 28, so deaths can be registered.
