Large fire at Greshop House, Forres

CREWS from stations in Forres, Elgin and Nairn are controlling a blaze near a local category B listed building.

The fire brigade was called out to Waterford at 11.12am by a report of a fire in an outbuilding at Greshop House.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Operations control mobilised four appliances to the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.

"No casualties have been reported and crews remain in attendance."

A passer-by told the Gazette that he thought the emergency teams had difficulty accessing the site and may have run out of water at one point.

He said: "The fire seemed to be mainly in the building on the right then spread towards a green plastic oil tank, then whoosh!"

Greshop House was built in the late-18th century, with early-19th century and modern additions.
