DESPITE the cancellation of many of the area's Guy Fawkes Night events, there will be fireworks and a bonfire in Inchberry this Saturday.

The Inchberry and District Community Association (IDCA) is inviting locals to come along and enjoy a show in the North Field outside Inchberry Hall.

Annual events in Elgin, Forres and Portgordon have all been cancelled as a result of coronavirus-related restrictions – and are set to return in 2022.

However, the Inchberry and District Community Association is keen to ensure their event – which was cancelled in 2020 – goes ahead this year.

A spokesperson said: "The committee agreed to hold our annual short outdoor event and share with the local community.

"This event had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic. We are keen to rebuild our community and welcome families who have recently moved into the area."

The event will start at 6.30pm, with good visibility is forecast and temperatures expected to be a mild nine degrees Celsius.

However, thick boots should be worn to combat the damp grass, as well as torches for the darkness.

There is ample free car parking at the Inchberry Hall field. Entry is free – with free sweets for the young ones as well – however donations will be accepted in bucket at field on entry or departure.
