A BUILDER has bolstered a local outdoor and adventure charity for children with a £1,000 donation.

Lossiemouth-based Outfit Moray, which works with young people to develop their self-confidence and essential life skills while improving their health, will invest the cash in its EnerG initiative, which works specifically with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people, many of whom have difficulty integrating with others.

The donation has been made as part of Barratt Homes’ Community Fund, through which Barratt Homes donates £1,000 each month to an organisation that works to improve the quality of life for people in the region.

Outfit Moray is the fifth beneficiary of the scheme, identified for its role in helping more than 1000 young people each year.

Tony Brown, CEO at Outfit Moray, said: "Outdoor and adventure learning has been proven to have a massively beneficial impact on young people – particularly for more vulnerable students and teenage learners.

"EnerG aims to bring this benefit to young people in the north of Scotland and help them better understand themselves, the consequences of their actions and decisions, and to realise they have choices in their lives.

"This donation from Barratt Homes will go towards bringing this experience to even more young people, and for this, we are extremely grateful."

David Palmer, managing director for Barratt North Scotland, said: "Outfit Moray and the EnerG scheme has helped to transform so many young lives by giving them the skills and awareness to make good choices and contribute more positively to their communities. We are delighted to be able to support them and their excellent work in the local area."
