Morrison Construction and Scottish Gas Network have donated £500 each towards the maintenance of the Fochabers Public Institute, which is owned by the local community.

The Fochabers Village Association will use the donation to complete the installation of an air conditioning unit in the balcony seating area of the hall.

Morrison Construction completed £800,000 worth of works in Fochabers in April. It replaced a rising main across Old Road Bridge. SGN began £500,000 of work in February to replace the gas main at the same bridge.

The companies worked together to keep temporary shelter in place across the bridge, above the River Spey, to protect the infrastructure and project teams from the elements during construction.

Morrison Construction Performance Manager Christina Calder, said: "At Morrison Construction, we believe in giving back to the communities we live and work in. We are delighted to assist with the maintenance of the Fochabers village hall, a special venue at the heart of this community."

SGN Project Manager Allan Howie said: "We understand roadworks can be frustrating so would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst we worked. It’s really important to us to give something back to our local communities, so donating to the maintenance of the village hall was a pleasure."
