First-class service from local posties

TODAY is Postal Workers Day and mail staff are working round the clock to cope with the huge upsurge in workload during lockdown.

People are being asked to show appreciation for their local posties' first-class service on the national day, organised by the Communications Workers Union.

Today members of the public have been joining the big thank-you to posties on Twitter using the hashtag #ThumbsUpForYourPostie as it becomes clear in these times how vital the workers are not just for keep people connected, but a whole lot more.

Moray MSP Richard Lochhead said: "Join me in paying tribute to all of Moray’s posties who are doing such a grand job ensuring we continue to receive our mail during this difficult time. And with a smile!

"Given we’re in lockdown, often the local postie is the only person some folk will see or speak to.

"Not only are our posties delivering essential items but many are also checking on the elderly and so on."
