Teachers were pushing for a better pay offer outside their schools this morning, in the first national school strike since the 1980s.

Picket lines were in force outside many of Moray's schools, including Elgin Academy and Forres Academy.

A pay rally will take place later this morning at Elgin Town Hall.

The last minute decision to hold the first national school strike since the 1980s came after the Scottish Government's offer to teachers fell short of expectations.

Members of the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) and the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes Scotland (AHDS) are behind the strike.

The unions are pushing for a 10% pay offer.
