All five colleagues work for The Northern Scot and its sister titles in Moray and Aberdeenshire – The Forres Gazette, Huntly Express, Banffshire Herald, Banffshire Advertiser and Banffshire Journal.

Joint-content editor Joe Millican said: "This year's five nominations are a fantastic achievement for our team and it is great to see everyone's hard work recognised by the judging panel.

"We have had a strong year in both news and sport with a range of powerful features, insightful investigative reports, hard news and more personal human stories all making an impact.

"We are also delighted to see our two photographers shortlisted as being among the top three in the whole of the north of Scotland. We are immensely proud of everyone."

Daniel and Craig are previous award winners, while Beth is a nominee for the second successive year having started at the Scot in 2022. Ewan is in the running for the first time.

In addition, nine further Highland News and Media colleagues have been nominated for awards.
