FOCHABERS Square has a cheery, cheeky new character in place.

The Floo'er Wullie sculpture is the last of four Oor Wullies bought at auction by local businessman Gordon Christie to find a permanent home in Moray.

Mr Christie, who has been a fan of iconic comic-strip character Oor Wullie since childhood, already has one in place at Burnside Caravan Park in Fochabers, one at Lossiemouth Bay Caravan Park and another at Burghead Caravan Park.

The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail in summer saw more than 200 sculptures displayed in cities across Scotland, including Inverness and Aberdeen. All the proceeds from the sale of the figures went to the ARCHIE Foundation which provides extras for sick children.

Mr Christie, of the Christies of Fochabers garden centre-owning family, also bought two smaller Oor Wullie statues at the autumn auction to grace his own garden.
