A FOCHABERS man who grabbed a female police officer's private parts after spitting on another's mouth will be sentenced at the end of month.

Colin Reid, of Burnbank in the village, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted two charges of assault, committed on November 9, 2021, at his home.

He also pleaded guilty to making homophobic remarks and shouting and swearing at a male officer.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that the two constables went to Reid's home on another matter when he entered the property's back door, apparently under the influence of a substance.

Mrs Gair said: "He was swearing under his breath and got a bottle of beer. He was told to put it down, refused and there was a struggle on the floor when he spat on the mouth area of one constable.

"He then grabbed the other officer between her legs and held onto the vagina area for five to 10 seconds. She screamed in pain before he let go."

Sentence was deferred until October 31 for a background report and Reid's bail was continued. Sheriff Macdonald warned him that all options will be considered by the court.

She added: "You have managed to stay out of trouble for some time but these are nasty offences."
