Warm thanks have been expressed to a Moray policeman who's retiring after 27 years after service.

PC Brian ‘Bof’ Milne joined Grampian Police, as it was known at the time, as a young probationer in Aberdeen during May 1996.

Over his long career with the force he's worked across the north east, including in Aberdeenshire.

In addition, he protected the Royal Family on occasions during the 15 years in which he was a part of the firearms unit.

Over the past four years he has been an operations planning constable.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "He will be a well-missed colleague and friend. We wish him all the best in his future ventures."
