Fond farewells to familiar faces at Milne's High School

WITH another school year over at Milne's High, it was time to say farewell to some familiar faces.

Deborah Gordon has retired after 25 years of service to the school as Principal Teacher of Home Economics and 34 years in teaching while Shirley Laurie retires after over six years in the ASN department with almost 40 years in all as a teacher.

Lexi Kelbie, a teacher of PE and Dance at Milne's, has left to take up a post in another area.

They have all been thanked for their contributions to the school

Taking over these posts are Katherine Keddie (Principal Teacher of Home Economics), Deidre Christenson-Main (ASN), Laura Keay, (PE). Recent interviews for Pupil Support Assistants saw Michelle Cooper welcomed back to the team.

Four Newly Qualified Teachers are due to join the team after the holidays: Cora Meechan (PE); Ms Chloe Smith (History); Niamh Ross (Modern Studies); Michael de’Bruin (Physics/Science).

In other staff changes during last term, Elaine Kelly, Senior Clerical Assistant, was seconded to another school and her position has been taken up by Jenny Liddell. Lynette Barber moves from her position in the office to the post of Inclusion Co-ordinator and interviews are being held for her replacement.

Appreciation has also been expressed to the school's part-time staff who have increased their hours to cover absence within the team.

Supply staff, who have provided much needed coverage during the past session, have also been singled out for praise.

Amanda MacKenzie, who joined Milne's on secondment during the term as Principal Teacher of Guidance, was thanked for all her support and care of the students.

Milne's High look forward to welcoming back Ria Sparkes to Spey House after the holidays.
