A set of students and teachers from Forres Academy are having to self-isolate after a pupil tested positive for Covid-19.

Individuals classed as close contacts were informed at the weekend after the case was confirmed.

The rest of the school's pupils and staff have been told to carry on attending lessons as before, unless they develop symptoms.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: "Initial advice has been passed to parents and carers at Forres Academy giving details of what to do if their child displays symptoms of Covid-19.

"We will continue to contact parents and carers directly with any further updates.

"All Moray schools receive an enhanced clean daily in line with public health advice, and this allows the rest of the school to continue as normal.

"School buses, which are considered an extension of the school estate, are also cleaned after each run so we're satisfied that Covid-19 safety measures continue to be met."

The council also wished the student a speedy recovery and urged the families contacted to follow the advice they were given by NHS Grampian.
