Four new cases of coronavirus in Moray

FOUR new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray overnight, the biggest daily increase since local authority numbers have been available.

The Northern Scot has covered the daily rises in confirmed Moray coronavirus cases, using Scottish Government data, since Wednesday, April 29. Previously, the highest overnight rise of confirmed cases in Moray was two.

The four new confirmed cases take the total in Moray from 44 to 48.

Meanwhile, cases across the Grampian region have passed the 1000 mark and now sit at 1001. That is a rise of 28 cases overnight.

In neighbouring Aberdeenshire 370 cases of covid-19 have been confirmed, while Aberdeen City has 570 cases.

Highland has confirmed 179 cases.

At midnight, there were 89 people in Grampian hospitals with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, with 11 in intensive care.

Across Scotland, 69,191 people have been tested for coronavirus, with 56,042 negative and 13,149 positive.

Sadly, 1811 of those who tested positive have died. A total of 3016 patients have been discharged from hospital.
