Organisations and volunteers will offer free access to sites and events in Moray for the festival.

The aim of the festival is to ensure that Scotland's cultural heritage is made accessible to everyone living in or visiting the country.

Moray has a packed programme of events and activities lined up, including Covesea Lighthouse, Elgin Fire Station, Forres Tolbooth, Fochabers Folk Museum, Buckie & District Fishing Heritage Centre, Elgin Sheriff Court, The Cabrach Trust and a Ghost Tour of Elgin.

Leader of Moray Council, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “Doors Open Day is always a highlight for locals and visitors alike. This year, as we get back to fully in-person visits, it’s great to see so many culture and heritage icons in Moray throwing open their doors.

"I hope many of us take up the opportunity to connect with our cultural offerings on a fun, free day out for all the family.”

Director of Scottish Civic Trust, Doors Open Days national coordinator, Dr Susan O’Connor, said: “Doors Open Days offers visitors the opportunity to play ‘tourist’ in their own town for free, as they uncover new experiences and revisit old favourites right on their doorstep. This year, we hope our visitors take this opportunity to make new memories with their friends and families, while they celebrate the stories that have shaped Scotland.”
