MORAY over-55s are being invited to enjoy free art and music events in Forres and Duffus this month.

The First Time for Everything programme, designed by the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS), offers people opportunities to stay active and social by trying something new locally.

An afternoon of mandala painting, tea drinking and chat will be hosted by local RVS activity co-ordinator Sharon Finlay, at Forres House Community Centre, on Wednesday, November 3, between 1-3pm. No art experience is required and full instruction will be given.

Local singer and guitarist Ian Fraser will then host an afternoon of music and song at Duffus Village Hall on Friday, November 19, between 2-4pm.

Light refreshments will be available at both events.

According to new research by RVS, more than half (53 per cent) of people aged over 55 are keen to see people and be social now that Covid-19 restrictions have eased.

Booking for the events is essential as places are limited.

To register, contact Sharon Finlay on 07974 415713 or email sharon.finlay@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk.

First Time for Everything is supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
