Free feature film to be screened at Inkwell Café in Elgin
LOCAL people are being invited to a free screening of a new feature film called Everything Must Change.
Moray Climate Action Network and Moray Trades Union Council (TUC) are hosting the free screening at The Inkwell Café on March 13. Doors are 6.30pm and the film start at 7pm.
The film, by independent film-makers Reel News, examines how the climate, cost-of-living, housing and other crises are all interlinked, and argues that if the problems are interlinked then the solutions must be too.
Interviewing workers, campaigners and activists from Aberdeen to India, the film explores how these crises have come about, and shows how a just transition to a renewable energy system based on people's needs can solve all of them.
Moray TUC spokesperson David Blair said: “Moray is at the forefront of the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables, but people are looking around and seeing that we are not getting the real benefits of this.
“We in Moray have some of the highest levels of fuel poverty in Scotland, public services are being cut, and the vast offshore wind farms in the Moray Firth are all manufactured and owned elsewhere.
“We hope this film will bring people together to discuss how the climate, cost-of-living, land and housing crises have arisen, and how we as workers and a community can tackle them.
“We have heard from screenings elsewhere that some very exciting ideas and connections have come out of the post-film discussion groups, so we’d really encourage folk to come along and be part of this event.”
There will be a discussion session after the film, with the event finishing by 9pm. Sandwiches, tea and coffee will be provided.
The event is free but booking is essential. Visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/everything-must-change-film-screening-tickets-839949590837
