FREE English language lessons are on offer for non-native speakers who are living in the local area.

ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) lessons will take place in the portacabin at St Leonard's Church in Forres.

Classes will help learners improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening and are set to help people struggling to make ends meet.

The classes are being delivered by Christine Dexter, a qualified ESOL teacher who has more than 20 years experience teaching in Scotland and England.

Christine has taught varying groups of people – from refugees to English students studying for Higher level exams.

She will be offering a class to prepare learners for taking the IELTS (international English language testing system).

For jobs in health and care, for example, effective communication that takes into account language skills and cultural differences is essential for patient and service user safety.

The IELTS is an approved SELT, (secure English language test), that assesses the standard of language skills required for the job has been achieved.

For more information on the classes, contact Christine at chrsdxtr@gmail.com.
