A NEW online learning opportunity has been launched for people with disabilities and unpaid carers living in the Highlands and Moray.
The charity Lead Scotland created the course for people who have previously faced difficulties in education and hope to support students to learn, develop skills and gain an Adult Achievement Award qualification by completing the six week course.
Each week participants will meet for an hour online to reflect on their previous learning, including activities at home, work, college or volunteering, and work towards a qualification with their peers.
Learning Coordinator for the project, Jan Harrison said: ‘"I have seen the great outcomes that come from individuals achieving this award. The learners have a Reflective Journal rather than having to do tests, which can be off putting. They evaluate their learning over the last 12 months and plan what they will do with that learning."
Lead Scotland is offering the free Adult Achievement Award classes in group format after supporting many individuals through the qualification on a one-to-one basis. They hope that the group format will allow individual learners to form new connections and learn from each other.
Gemma Anderson, who successfully completed the Adult Achievement Award with Lead Scotland said: "I have become more confident in my abilities and that I deserve the opportunities I’ve been given, and I would recommend the course to anyone thinking about doing it."
The classes will run on Tuesdays from 11am-12pm running from February 15 - March 29 2022 and prospective learners can encouraged sign up by email: spcc@lead.org.uk
