Friends and Family day support

Sir, – I’m writing this reply to the letter from P.A. Turnbull ("Northern Scot", last week) in regards to the friends and family day that was held at RAF Lossiemouth.

The friends and family day is a way for the serving personnel to say a big thank you to their friends and family in their support of what they do for Queen and Country.

Does he really begrudge this for their friends and family?

If he was that desperate to watch the show he could have joined the rest of the people who stood and watched from the land on the outside of the camp next to the golf course, like myself and all the other people who where there.

I’m sure that once the future of the base has been confirmed the personnel of RAF Lossiemouth will find a way to say thank you to all the people who have campaigned to save them.

I’m very sure that just because of one day people are not going to turn their backs on the RAF in Moray, like Mr Meldrum who wrote in the week before.

We have to support the RAF in Moray not for the financial gain Moray gets but why they are based here – to keep Britain safe. – Yours etc,

Y. Watson

Elgin.
