WORK to connect the new £42 million Lossiemouth High School to the main gas network will begin next week.
A pipe will be run across the common good ground at Coulardbank Playing Fields, going from the school site to the A941 Lossiemouth-Elgin road, opposite the junction with Macduff Street.
The line of the new pipe, which is being installed by gas network company SGN, will be closed off to the general public by security fencing during these works. There will also be works on local roads.
Chair of Moray Council’s Children & Young People’s Services Committee, Councillor Sonya Warren, is pleased with the progress being made on site and said the gas pipe was a key part of that work.
She said: "In order to provide the best facilities for our learners, we're investing millions into a replacement Lossiemouth High School.
"The laying of this pipe is a crucial step in the build project and, whilst an area of common good land will be out of bounds while this takes place, I know the community will appreciate that it’s being done in the interests of public safety, and acknowledge the power of work being done by our contractors to build an excellent learning and community space for Lossiemouth residents.”
