SCOTRAIL welcomed an unusual com-moo-ter to their morning service between Aberdeen and Inverness on Saturday.

A young heifer was spotted running in front of the 1010 service, near Alves, shortly before midday.

Having wandered onto the railway, the cow quickly departed the track – presumably after finding out the train didn't stop in 'Uddersfield.

A ScotRail spokesperson confirmed that disruption to services was minimal.

"At around midday on Saturday, June 10, the driver of the 1010 Aberdeen to Inverness service reported a cow on the railway line between Elgin and Forres," the spokesperson said.

"Services ran at a reduced speed while the area was checked. The farmer confirmed all cows were accounted for, so services began operating normally soon after."
