WMVC will bring their own style of performance singing, ably led by BBC's Bryan Marshall and RCS accompanist Penny Watson.

Choir Chairman Ken MacLeod commented on a literal change of direction in 2023 after biennial appearances at the famous Cornwall International Male Voice Chorus festival between 2013 and 2019, at which WMVC remain the only Scottish choir to have participated.

He said: "These were wonderful experiences for the lads, but during Covid we lost some good friends and, with an unprecedented influx of new members at the start of term, we thought somewhere closer at hand would benefit the choir this year."

WMVC's trip north will follow spring concerts in Bearsden, near Glasgow, with a trip to the Boat of Garten Musical Festival also on the choir's summer agenda.

The choir has welcomed Gleaner Oils’ local sponsorship and are promoting their new charity support of Drake Music Scotland, the leading provider of music-making resources to people of all ages with disabilities.

At least 40 of their 60-strong choir will be making the journey north in May. Tickets for the Elgin concert cost £10 and are available online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/westerton-male-voice-choir.

Ken added: “If you haven't heard a male voice choir before, this is definitely one to attend!"
