A FREE event for people working in the livestock sector is taking place in Glenlivet.

The gathering, entitled maximising grass and health for profitable upland lamb production, is being run by Crown Estate Scotland and the Moredun Research Institute.

It takes place at Ruthven Farm, which is managed by Jim and Lesley Simmons, on August 24 from 2.30-5pm.

Grassmaster Charlie Morgan will show how to get the most from grass in upland lamb (and cattle) production.

There will also be workshops on roundworm control in ewes and lambs and information on how to create a five point plan to stamp out flock lameness.

Crown Estate Scotland head of property Andy Wells said: "Events like this are hugely beneficial in sharing practical action that farmers can take to plan and prepare for the future developments in the agriculture sector.

"As a landlord, Crown Estate Scotland takes our responsibilities to support our tenants very seriously. As well as our ongoing investment in a range of activity on our four rural estates, including the provision of new buildings and infrastructure, knowledge exchange events like this can help our tenants’ business prosperity."

This event is open to all involved in the livestock sector on a first come, first served basis. Email karen.smith@crownestatescotland.com or call 01479 870070 for more information.
